Zero Waste MEANS what?

I had no idea when I bought this business how disheartening it would be that there are so many critics. I genuinely wanted this business so that I could do good in the world and am so excited to be in a position to do just that. I’m learning quickly that there will always be someone questioning my intentions no matter how hard I try. Luckily, I’ve been dealing with mean people my entire life so after 41 years I’m starting to become accustomed to it.

When I purchased the business my intentions have never been to be this zero waste guru with lots of followers and a huge online business. My goal is to learn alongside my customers how to live in the most mindful way to be as gentle to Mother Nature as possible. After all, my husband and I own another business that is literally dependent on our rivers and oceans. I hope to help build a community of environmentally conscious citizens that care enough to become active in areas that inspire change.

For every single person being zero waste means something different and we are not here to judge anyone! We hope JAR can become a place for you to come and feel comfortable to ask questions and be more mindful of Mother Earth and the things we can realistically partake in to slow climate change and reduce our carbon footprint.

Unless you are living off the grid and foraging all of your own food you probably fit somewhere in the reality of what JAR represents.

We encourage everyone to shop locally when possible and while we do have an online shop for those that don’t have access to a variety of eco conscious items, finding things in your neighborhood is always best!

I’ll be sharing as much about myself and our business as time allows. Please follow along and if you’re local swing by and say hi!

We will also have guest bloggers coming up from scientists to chefs and artists!
