DAY 6 OF JAR'S 12 DAYS OF ZERO WASTE CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS: CHOCOLATE HANI HEAVEN
I’m not going to lie to you. This chocolate Hani sauce from Hani Honey is a limited edition, so only a certain number of these delectable gems were made. That means when they’re gone, they’re gone - but we hope they’ll make more next year! These 3 ingredients together are a self-care trio. Whether you’ve been neglecting yourself or you know someone who has, this is an amazing gift!
Zero Waste Popcorn
Emily will package up some of Jar’s loose popcorn in an eco-friendly manner. She can use a jar like the one pictured above or something else.
Himalayan Sea Salt
Fun fact: Did you know Himalayan Sea Salt is actually an edible crystal named Pink Halite? If you subscribe to metaphysical beliefs, it’s said that Pink Halite has gentle, but strong grounding and centering energies. It is said to have the potential to bring abundance and prosperity into a home. It’s also representative of love. What a perfect gift to express your love to someone else!
Chocolate Hani Sauce
Oh this stuff is (not literally) the bee’s knees! If you’re a fan of sweet and salty popcorn, this is the cherry on top of a delicious snack.
Been a while since you’ve tried stove-top popcorn? Here’s a quick and easy recipe.
In an 8-12 quart pan (with matching lid), add 1/2 stick of salted butter or 4 Tablespoons of Earth Balance. If you’re watching your salt, use unsalted butter. Add equal amount of vegetable oil (not olive oil as it will turn rancid under high heat.) Allow oil and butter to heat for approximately 60 seconds. Add 1 teaspoon of Himalayan Sea Salt to the oil mixture. Add 3/4 Cup of popcorn to your hot oil and cover with lid.
You can go have a seat and keep an ear open for the first sign of your corn popping. After about 30 seconds, grab a pot holder so you don’t burn yourself. Secure the lid with pot holder while gently shaking so it pushes the unpopped kernels to the bottom of the pan (closer to the heat). At this point, stay by the pan and every 30-45 seconds, repeat the pan shake. After your popcorn has been popping for one solid minute, reduce the temperature to medium heat so it doesn’t burn.
Once your popcorn goes silent for 4-5 seconds between pops, it’s safe to say it’s done. Remove pan from heat and place in a popcorn bowl. Be sure to leave enough space at the top to be able to mix in the chocolate Hani Sauce. Taste 2-3 kernels for salt level. If more salt is needed, add to your taste. Give the popcorn about 5 minutes to cool down. Go back and drizzle 1 Tablespoon of Hani Sauce to the top of the popcorn and use a rubber spatula to gently stir it around. Apply another 1 Tablespoon and repeat.
Pop in your favorite movie, sit down and enjoy with family or friends!
