Healthy and nutritious - "Milk" Shakes
If you’re like me, you’re finding all sorts of way to integrate sugar into your life during quarantine… That is, until you start noticing your clothes fitting differently (or not fitting at all). Sugar is a comfort. Is it addictive? Almost as much as cocaine. So, I’m going to let you in on a couple of great smoothie/shake ideas that are vegan or can be made that way easily. All of the below shakes/smoothies use protein powder. My favorite vegan protein is Orgain and can be purchased through their website or can also be found on Amazon. Vanilla and Chocolate flavors are both great. Obviously other protein powders may be substituted.
If you have fruit that’s about to go bad, don’t forget that freezing is an option. Less food waste not only benefits our planet, but it also benefits your bottom line. Considering the state of our economy and jobs, this is advice we all could use.
Strawnana Chocolate (makes 2-12 oz. glasses)
1.5 Cups of vegan milk
1/3 C vegan plain yogurt
1 Tbsp. Hani Honey - I like orange blossom best.
1 whole frozen banana (12-16 slices)
1 C frozen strawberries
3 scoops of Orgain Organic Chocolate shake mix
Blend all ingredients together in your blender. I use my “smoothie” setting. Pour into 2-12 oz. glasses and enjoy with your reusable straw from this silicone 4-pack.
Very Berry
1.5 Cups of vegan milk
1/3 C of plain vegan yogurt (or berry flavored)
2 Tbsp. of Hani Honey - orange blossom is my choice for this smoothie
1.5 C of frozen mixed berries
3 Scoops of Orgain Organic Vanilla flavored protein powder
Blend all ingredients together using the “smoothie” function on your blender until completely smooth. If the fruit isn’t blending, keep adding just a dab of vegan milk until it starts blending. This is a great time to use your 14 oz stemless wine glass or purchase it here! It even comes with a reusable straw!
